Use our family code of conduct agreement to clearly communicate what safe internet activity is and establish the behaviour you expect from your child whilst on the internet. You can download a printable version here.
I WILL PRACTICE SAFE INTERNET BEHAVIOUR
- I will never give out any personal information such as name, address, phone number, parents workplace or name of school.
- I will not give my password to anyone, and I will not change passwords or settings without my parents permission.
- I will never meet someone that I have met online. I will never send a photo of myself or accept money/gifts from someone I have met online.
- I will tell my parents if something makes me feel uncomfortable or upset and log off immediately.
- I will never post naked / sexy pictures of myself.
- If someone starts a sexual conversation with me I will log off.
- I will not post anything on a social networking profile that my parents or teachers would not be happy to see. I understand these images stay online forever.
- I will ask my parents permission to download videos / pictures or files as they may contain inappropriate pictures or dangerous viruses
- I will not fill out surveys.
- I will only respond to emails / instant messages from people I know.
- I will follow these internet safety rules at my friend’s house, school or the library.
- I agree that my parents can check my internet activity to ensure I am safe.
I WILL USE THE INTERNET RESPONSIBLY AND ETHICALLY
- I will abide by our family ratings rules for movies, video games, music and websites.
- I agree to use the internet responsibly. I will not engage in bullying or say cruel/mean things about anyone.
- I will not use technology to cheat in homework.
- I will not post pictures of friends without their permission.
- I understand that a healthy balance of activities is important and will adhere to the time limits set by my parents.
MY PARENTS AGREE TO
- Learn about the online world and the sites that I enjoy.
- Discuss with me any concerns they have.
- Understand that the internet is important for my social and educational development.
- Help me find sites that are appropriate to my interests.
- Not overreact if I come to them with a situation that I need assistance with.
- Not take away my internet privileges if I seek them out for help.
