- Easy installation – Safe Eyes is extremely easy to install and has an easy to use interface that you can customise for many individual users. Located in each interface is a help button, providing instant advice on the most common problems. On top of that customer support backup is available, but even the least tech savvy parents should be fine setting this software up.
- Website Filtering / Blocking – a comprehensive 35 website categories can be customised for blocking or alert by parents. If the computer is shared within the family, the list can be customised by user. An interesting extra is that Safe Eyes does not block the entire You Tube video site, but instead screens each individual video to determine if the content within the video is appropriate.These website block settings can be changed through any internet connection once you have set up your Safe Eyes account. So if you’re at work and your child wants to access a particular site that you know is suitable, you can allow this by updating the settings from your internet connection to your Safe Eyes account.
- Instant Alerts – Safe Eyes parental software will let you customise when and how you are to be alerted if a user tries to access a blocked site. Alerts can be programmed to 3 levels, and you can opt to have the information sent as a text message, a phone call or to your email.
- Instant Messaging – Safe Eyes allows you to customise whether you want to block instant messaging sites entirely or monitor who your children are interacting with. Conversations are saved for parents to review. This gives parents the opportunity to regularly communicate with their child about online safety and appropriate language.
- Limit Time Online – Rather than continuous nagging from you, Safe Eyes can help you enforce time restraints. You can customise the allowable time for each child and determine what times of the day they may use the internet, ensuring they have plenty of time for homework and don’t get sidetracked watching videos or playing games.
- Email Blocking – If your child is new to email, you can ensure they only connect with approved email addresses, thereby decreasing the opportunity for their email address to be subject to incoming spam and the like.
- Social Networking Sites – You can allow your child to safety navigate social networking sites and stay connected with their friends, whilst monitoring their activity to ensure they are not disclosing personal information and or posting inappropriate comments.
